Authorities said a man has been hospitalized after being shot while sitting in the rear sit of a car on the 1900 block of Pike Drive Wednesday night in what was called a “targeted act.”
According to Fitchburg Police Department news release, officers responded to shots fired at about 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8.
A vehicle arrived the department with a 41-year-old male passenger with gunshot wound, officers administered first aid before Fitch-Rona EMS took the man to an area hospital, where he is listed in a stable condition.
Preliminary investigation shows the victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked car when the suspect walked up and fired multiple shots and eventually striking him.
Authorities said the shooter is believed to have fled the area in a dark Dodge sedan.
