Federal Way Police say a shopper accused of shooting an employer of WinCo over an altercation over alcohol has been arrested at the late hours of Thursday.
Sources say the incident took place at about 1 p.m. at the WinCo store in the 160 Southwest Campus Driver.
Reports say the victim was a security guard and the incident took place at the time when the business place was filled with customers.
Authorities said the 30-year-old security guard was notified to come and dismiss a customer who was said to be aggressive and drunk, the suspect then allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot at the guard, hitting him in the chest.
Paramedics on arrival airlifted the man to the Harborview Medical Center and was listed in critical condition but expected to survive.
“I come here and shop so. This is my place I shop at too, so, no!, not at all. I never ever heard anything like this could ever happen here,” said the Victim’s mother.
Authorities said a K-9 was used to track the suspect, but he had already gotten away.
Police disclosed that they have apprehended a 24-year-old man “responsible for the shooting at WinCo this afternoon.”
He has been charged for first-degree assault and has been booked into the King County Jail , police said.
