Emmette Dillion Missing – Body found in River Foyle today confirmed to be 33 year-old man missing from Derry in early September.
Emmette Dillion, 33 year-old who went missing from Derry on Friday, 3rd of September 2021 has now been found dead.
Multiple sources say Dillon was last seen leaving his apartment in Conar Court, Crawford Sq, Derry after midnight on the said date. He was said to have been headed for northland road but never arrived there.
Emmette Dillion description:
The 33 year-old was described as a White male who is approximately 6 feet tall and of slim build. He has dark brown curly hair and brown eyes.
Dillon’s last known clothing description was given as an all black clothing and he was also said to be carrying a bag pack.
Search for Emmette Dillion:
Authorities began search for Dillon after he was reported missing.
Ryan Dillon, twin brother of Dillon made a plea to the authorities and the public to help find him.
Ryan said “Emmette we love you and we want to help. Please come home so we can look after you and find a way forward. We have no reason to believe he left the country and police also believe this is the case. We have no reason to believe that Emmette would hurt himself. Emmette is a loving son, brother and uncle and only wants to help those around him. However, he does have serious mental health issues which can impact his behaviour.”
“Police have carried out door to door checks and acted on any potential sightings reported however the information we have is so limited,” said Ryan. We believe Emmette’s phone has been switched off, so they are unable to use this as a method of tracing him.”
Emmette Dillion death:
According to report, Dillon has now been found dead. His body was said to have been recovered from the River Foyle on Thursday, September 23rd 2021.
The body was reportedly recovered by the Foylerescue along with the PSNI today.
A tweet by the Foylerescue reads “We want to sincerely thank those involved in the recovery today. We want to thank our volunteers in particular, who had the difficult job of recovering Emmette’s body. We are extremely grateful for your efforts today and always.”
The cause of death of Dillon has not been given and police has not commented if foul play is suspected in his death.
The family of the now deceased 33 year-old has been informed and request privacy to grieve.
