Galt fatal vehicle accident- Authorities have reported a fatal vehicle accident that claimed the life of one person and injured another 4, on Sunday morning.
The accident occurred on August 22, at about 4:35 a.m., on Highway 99 just north of Dillard Road.
The preliminary report stated that a Dodge Ram pickup was traveling south when it crashed the median and broke through a concrete barrier.
Authorities stated that the vehicle later entered into a northbound lane where it collided with a Galt Police Department patrol vehicle that occupied two officers on northbound Hwy-99 at 70 miles.
The driver of the Dodge who is yet to be identified was confirmed dead at the scene.
Two other occupants of the Dodge Ram were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Galt Police Department, officials said, “the two officers were en route to El Dorado County to help in the Caldor Fire when the crash happened.”
The officials reported that the two officers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to UC Davis Medical Center after being ejected from their patrol vehicle. One of them is reported to be in a stable situation while the other one has not improved yet.
Galt Police Department is yet to discover if alcohol and/or drugs were a contributing factor in the crash.
The crash is still under South Sacramento CHP Area investigation.
