According to reports, The Big Island police arrested 79-year-old Donald Carpenter, of Kealakekua, after allegedly shooting dead a 61-year-old Kailua-Kona man.
The police responded to the scene on Mamalahoa Highway in Kealakekua, on getting a shooting report.
On arrival to the home on Mamalahoa Highway in Kealakekua at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21., the police arrested the 79-year-old unidentified man, reports says.
According to reports, the man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.
The was released pending investigation on Sunday, Aug. 22, reports stated.
