Domestic dispute, kidnap leads to officer involved shooting in Las Vegas

Kidnapping leads to police involved shooting near Charleston and Sloan.

An investigation is ongoing after an officer-involved shooting occurred on Tuesday in the East Valley, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

Detectives responded to the 5600 block of E. Charleston Boulevard and Sloan Lane after reports of a domestic dispute-related kidnapping and shooting.

Arriving officers learned a male had forcibly entered the apartment of his ex-girlfriend and kidnapped her.

During the incident, he fired a handgun but no injuries were reported.

As officers located the suspect walking with the ex-girlfriend near East Charleston Blvd and Sloan, the suspect saw the approaching officers and held the female at gunpoint.

The suspect then pointed the firearm at the officers when one of the officers fired and struck the suspect.

Police said he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The woman was not injured.
