Montiel spent his youth at IK Franke and Västerås SK, and made his first appearance for the latter in the Division 1 Norra match against Östersund on July 7, 2012. In 2013, Montiel joined the Allsvenskan club IF Brommapojkarna. In the club’s 2014-15 UEFA Europa League first round qualifying match against VPS, he was appointed as a substitute twice. After not appearing in the club’s senior team, he left in 2014 and rejoined Vasteras SK. He scored three goals in 13 games in the 2014 first league season. In January 2015, Montiel completed his transfer to Division 1 Norra team Dalkurd FF.
He participated in 24 games in his first season because they won the 2016 Superettan promotion. On November 11, 2016, it was announced that Montiel had agreed to sign a three-year contract with the Alsvenscan team IK Sirius, and will officially join on January 1, 2017.
He made his first appearance for IK Sirius in the Svenska Cupen vs. Arameisk-Syrianska IF game and scored the fifth goal in the 0-5 match. On July 28, Montiel joined the super team Gefle IF on loan. He scored his first Gefle goal in the second game against IFK Värnamo on August 6. Montiel scored two goals for Gefle in 14 games, and they finished 12th.
He terminated his contract with Sirius in November 2017. On December 5th, Montiel agreed to join the Superettan club Örgryte IS. In the opening six games, Montier scored five goals and assisted four times. He ended the 2018 season as the top scorer, scoring 13 goals and sending 14 assists in 28 games. He left after signing the contract in December last year. At the end of the month, Montier moved to the Belgian second division of the second division of the Biershot Wilek. In July 2019, Bill Short allowed Montiel to talk to a Swedish club about the transfer. Västerås SK revealed that he was training with them on July 8.
