Deanna Elmquist Death – Obituary: The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

A two vehicle accident that happened on Sunday, 5 September 2021, claimed the life of a 50-year-old Hot Springs woman named Deanna Elmquist.

The initial report revealed that a 2020 Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle driven by Elmquist was moving southbound on South Dakota Highway 79 when it hit a deer.

The impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the motorcycle into the southbound driving lane.

It was reported that a 2019 Honda driven by Darryl Anderson of Gillette, WY. 70, that was moving in the lane she fell could not help but to hit her.

Authorities revealed that Elmquist who was not wearing helmet during the crash died from her injuries.

Gillette was at the scene when the officials arrived, he did not sustain injuries from the accident.

The crash is still under investigation by the officials.
