Wow. When I was told, I didn’t even know what to say, or what to do. I was at a total loss of words. You were more than just a mentor, you were family, a close friend. You took me in when I felt like I had no one to count on or felt like I didn’t belong. Not just me. Our whole HIIT family. You told me to never quit, to always keep pushing. You deemed me the nickname “Roo” during an exercise and it just stuck. I wouldn’t be who I am today or where I am today without you. You took me and my brother under your wing, and made us physically and mentally stronger. You showed us what real bonds were like, what it’s like to have brothers and sisters in arms, a taste of what real partnership would be like in the military. I would’ve NEVER been the first female tanker of 2-69 AR, if it wasn’t for you. You knew I liked challenges, you knew I’d be fine, that I’d succeed. And anytime I made an accomplishment I thought of you. Anytime I make an accomplishment, I’ll always think of you. Because you helped build and mold me into the person I am today. You were the type of leader that I strive to be and will be. Thank you for being family, a good friend, a great mentor, and bringing together our HIIT family. And thank you for never giving up on me. -“Your favorite Roo” RIP SSG Craig Pruden, Til Valhalla.
