DaJae Davis Death – Obituary : A man and his girlfriend have been charged in the death of their neighbor earlier this year in South Memphis, according to the Shelby County District Attorney.
20-year-old Cliff Swift was charged on counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and usage of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, according to reports.
His girlfriend, 19-year-old Marveona Roper was charged on two counts of aggravated assault, reports states.
According to the District Attorney, the incident took place Feb. 7th at an apartment in the 600 block of Mississippi Boulevard.
Reports states that Roper and another woman were involved in a fight.
The Memphis police disclosed Roper threatened the woman with a knife and then went ahead to cut the woman’s cousin.
An investigation showed Swift fired a shot at the other woman’s boyfriend, but struck the woman in the lower leg, according to the DA.
When the boyfriend ran out of the apartment into the breezeway, police said Swift fired again.
The bullet went through the window of another apartment.
According to the DA, police noticed the bullet hole in the neighbor’s apartment.
When officers went inside the home they found 22-year-old DaJae Davis dead from a gunshot wound to the chest, the District Attorney added.
Her two-year-old daughter next to her was not injured.
The case is being handled by Chief Prosecutor Theresa McCusk, reports states.
