Clay Gerald Turner Death – Obituary – Police have identified the victim in Wednesday’s fatal collision involving a semi-trailer truck and and passenger vehicle on the south side.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, Clay Gerald Turner, 46, died at the scene at Valencia and Palo Verde roads, police say.The driver of the semi-truck, a man in his 40s, sustained minor injuries.

According to Tucson Police Department, Turner was driving eastbound on Valencia Road, attempting to turn left onto northbound Palo Verde Road when the semi-truck struck the front passenger side of his vehicle.

The semi’s driver immediately stopped after the collision, police say.

East and westbound travel on Valencia Road had a green light at the time of the collision, according to witness statements.

Detectives say Turner was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The driver of the semi was not impaired.

Police have determined that failure to yield while making a left turn is the major contributing factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing. Police say, it is unlikely that any citations or arrests will be issued.
