Children injured in shooting at burger king drive-in

Officials say two kids are in the hospital after being shot and injured while inside a car at a Burger King drive-thru in Durham County

According to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at about 7 p.m. Thursday at the fast-food restaurant on U.S. 70 East in Durham. Detectives say they are working to understand if the children’s families were the primary target of the shooting.

The bullet broke the window of the car and hit the two children sitting in the back seat, officials said. A family member then drove off and took the children to a hospital for treatment.
