Sergei Sarapultsev Death – Obituary : Sergei Sarapultsev, who was a senior investigator in the Perm region of Russia has reportedly died by suicide just few days after a deadly shooting in a university campus, according to reports.
Authorities located the lifeless body of Sarapultsev inside his home in the region. Sarapultsev was the leader of Perm region branch of Russian Investigative Committee’s, reports entailed.

Officials responded to the Perm State University on Monday Sept. 20th, an 18-year-old student of the university shot and killed six people and leaving about 2 dozens and half (30) wounded on campus.
The law enforcement agency’s spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said in a statement, “The Investigative Committee’s central office is carrying out a procedural check on the death of colonel of justice S.Yu. Sarapultsev, Sarapultsev took his own life after a briefing in which several Perm-based investigators were allegedly taken off the mass shooting case.”
Why did Sergei Sarapultsev take his life?
It is not verified yet if Sarapultsev, who has headed the regional branch of the Investigative Committee, which probes major crimes, since 2018, was also removed from the Perm State University case.
Alexander Bastrykin, head of the federal Investigative Committee, appointed a 50-strong team of investigators from across Russia during his visit to Perm in the wake of the campus shooting.
Sources say that Bastrykin had “a range of questions for Sarapultsev” as early as Sept. 7 over issues with observing the rights of joint property owners in the region.
Citing an unnamed source, Interfax reported that Sarapultsev may have killed himself due to family issues.
