Father of three drown while trying to rescue son
Brandon Urban, 41, of Omaha, Nebraska has drowned while trying to rescue son who got trapped by weed underwater at East Okoboji lake.
According to report, the drowning incident happened around 11:30 Wednesday morning after he dived into the lake in order to rescue son who was entangle by weed under the water.
Urban was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said Urban had swum to his son’s location on the water because the boy had fallen off a paddleboard.
Authorities also said that Urban was not wearing a life jacket and his friends were able to locate him under the water and pulled him to shore.
Until his death, the father of three was a worker at First Westroads Bank and the CEO described him as a “superstar”.
“Our entire family at First Westroads Bank is shocked and saddened by the news of Brandon’s passing. He has been a key part of our team since 2013. He was recognized as one of our superstars and admired by his peers. Customers appreciated his advice and counsel in helping their businesses grow and prosper. Our hearts go out to his family, his wife Kelsey, and three wonderful children,” Chris Murphy, the Chairman and CEO said in a statement to KETV NewsWatch 7.
