Body found in park Tuesday, police say

A body was discovered in a park in River Edge on Tuesday, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Liz Rebein, the office’s spokesperson, confirmed the discovery via email, but said she could not immediately release further details.

“We’re investigating, but the circumstances do not appear to be suspicious at this time,” she wrote.

Shortly after the death was confirmed, the River Edge PBA posted on its official Facebook page that “police activity at KBG is done,” seeming to refer to Kenneth B. George Park, located at the end of Riverside Way.

“There is no threat to the public. A press release will be released in the near future,” the post stated.

By 7:30 p.m. the park was empty. There were lights on at the baseball field, but no activity. The park is located next to the borough’s DPW and down the street from the community pool.

This story will be updated as more details are released.
