Bob Faehn Death – Obituary – Bob Faehn, a radio owner and a former state legislator has passed away on Monday, September 13th, 2021. The cause of his death has been made know as cancer. Bob died at the age of 63.
Faehn is survived by his wife Susie, two children, and six grandchildren.
In 1978, Bob began his career as a sports writer and a salesperson for the Watertown Public Opinion. He then moved to KSDR/1480 (Watertown) in 1984, later buying the station and adding KSDR-FM/92.9 (Watertown) in 1990.
In 2000, he sold KSDR AM-FM. After working in Sioux Falls radio for a few years, from 2005 to 2010 Faehn entered politics, serving as a Republican in the South Dakota House of Representatives.
Bob played a big role in the ban of smoking in bars and restaurants and serving as House Majority Leader in his final term.
He also worked at KXLG until being forced to retire earlier this year due to health concerns.
The station manager of Boldt Media LLC, Melissa Herrboldt said, “Bob put a lot of things in place and he did a lot of things for a lot of people. I believe the world is a better place with him in it, and he left it better than he found it.”
