2 killed in Berrien County’s Sodus Township two-vehicle accident
42-year-old Niles man and a 13-year-old St. Joseph male have been pronounced dead following a fatal two-motor vehicle accident that happened on Sodus Parkway, west of Watson Road, in Berrien County’s Sodus Township on Monday, September 20, 2021 at about 6 p.m.
According to report, a 2015 Toyota Corolla driven by 42-year-old Niles man with a 13-year-old St. Joseph male as a passenger was heading westbound on Sodus Parkway when the driver of the vehicle lost control on the wet roadway and veered off the center line into the eastbound lanes. The Toyota was then struck at the passenger side by a 2018 Subaru Outback traveling east on Sodus Parkway.
The driver of the Toyota and his front seat passenger suffered major injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash after succumbing to their injuries. While the backseat passenger, an 8-year-old St. Joseph male sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Lakeland hospital.
On the other hand, the three occupants of the Subaru; the driver 21-year-old Berrien Springs man, the front seat passenger, 21-year-old Berrien Springs woman and he back seat passenger, a 21-year-old Arizona woman were transported to Lakeland hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
