Berkeley high shooting – Student suffers medical emergency
Officials responded to Berkeley High School after receiving a report of an armed person outside the school campus.
Authorities say the school has enforced an automatic lockdown sure the students safety, while law enforcement agencies search around to make sure no suspect is left uncaught. Students are deemed safe for now, although a student suffered a minor health issue and is being attended to by EMS.
The Berkeley County School District sent an email to parents saying they may notice the presence of law enforcement on the campus.
“Law enforcement is present to assist the administration following two student altercations,” the email said. “These are isolated incidents and did not lead to the initiation of a lockdown.”
District officials say administration is following all district policy and procedure to address the matter.
