Authorities identify man killed in hit-and-run near San Martin

The pedestrian who died Monday in a collision with a collision near San Martin has been identified by authorities.

The crash occurred on Monterey Street, just north of Masten Avenue, California Highway Patrol said in a press release.

The pedestrian who died at the scene was identified as 39-year-old San Martin resident Alvino Casas Blanco, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

Casas Blanco was walking on the eastern side of Monterey Street and was hit by a driver, according to a CHP investigation. The driver left the scene and Casas Blanco was found by a passing motorist, who alerted authorities.

A side mirror from a 2016/19 Honda Civic was found at the scene and is believed to have broken off during the crash, CHP said.
