Andy Burns Obituary – Death: Sad to hear of the passing of Andy Burns, known here as @IndieAndyUK, Autism advocate and generally all around great guy. Bit of a story for you. On Saturday 12th December I got a message from blues guitarist Norman Beaker to see if I could deputise for his regular bass player John Price at a gig at The Spinning Top in Stockport on Sunday the 19th December. I was free, and delighted to be given the opportunity to play with such a talented musician. I had a week to learn two sets of songs from various Youtube links which Norman sent to me.
We duly did the gig and I am pleased to say I think I “did alright on the night”! Norman was admitted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2017, an honour bestowed on only a handful of English musicians, including Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce. He has worked with many big names including Jack Bruce, BB King, Chris Farlowe, Chuck Berry, Jon Lord, and Larry Garner. It was such an honour for me to work with his great band, Nick Steed on keys and Steve Gibson on drums.
Andy Burns Obituary – Death, what happened to Andy Burns? Cause of death
To top it all off, on a slightly sentimental personal note, 19th December 2022 was 37 years to the day since my Dad passed away. I think he would have been dead chuffed to see this. The clip is the song Cheatin’ Love, many thanks to Tony Chappell for the use of the recording.
