Authorities reported that a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 80 at the I-505 interchange in Vacaville claimed the life of a woman.
The incident happened on Thursday around 5 a.m.
According to preliminary report, the 33-year-old Alameda woman was driving Toyota Camry eastbound into a freeway median. She tried to return to traffic lane when she crashed with a Hyundai Ioniq driven by a 71-year-old Albany man.
Witness of the incident told officials that three other vehicles; a Honda Civic driven by a 42-year-old Antioch man, a Volkswagen driven by a 33-year-old Rohnert Park man, and a GMC Sierra driven by a 34-year-old San Pablo man couldn’t stop their vehicle on time causing them to crashed with the Toyota.
The Alameda woman was ejected from her vehicle and was confirmed dead at the scene by the officials.
The name of the victim is yet to be revealed pending notification of family members.
Authorities stated that two other drivers were injured in the incident by the state of the injuries they sustained was not mentioned.
The incident remains under investigation. Witnesses with information or footage is advised to contact CHP Officer Michael Barday at 428-2100.
