29-year-old woman killed in Bedford officer involved shooting
Chelsae L. Clevenger-Kirk Death – Obituary: Authorities are investigating after a 29-year-old was shot dead by Bedford County Sheriff’s deputies and DWR Conservation Officer, reports say.
Chelsae L. Clevenger-Kirk, of Goodview, Virginia was fatally shot after officials say she set a trailer home on fire, armed with a handgun at about 1:00 a.m. Sunday, reports entails.
The incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, a DWR Conservative officer attempted to stop a motorcyclist, who was driving without a plate number and a helmet. The cyclist declined to stop and instead rode to a residence in the 100 block of Afton Lane, Goodview.
Clevenger-Kirk was followed by the police, who attempted to speak to her before she reluctantly went inside the home. After trying fruitlessly to make contact with her, the officer turned to leave, Then gunshots sprang out from the home.
The officer called for backup. Clevenger-Kirk was fatally shot after she set a fire inside the home and came outside armed with a weapon. The report says Clevenger-Kirk was shot five times and was declared dead at the scene. No law enforcement agent was hurt in the shooting.
Virginia State Police are investigating.
