A 21-year-old man accused of bringing out a handgun and firing multiple shots inside a busy Toronto mall Sunday has been charged with eight offences, according to reports.
Authorities revealed the second suspect is still at large.
At about 3:38 p.m. Sunday, authorities responded to Yorkdale Shopping Centre on a shots fired reports.
Sources say an audio recorded inside the mall revealed four shots were fired before people started screaming and running out of the mall.
The suspect led police on a brief foot pursuit but was apprehended a short time later as he attempted to run onto a Highway 401 on-ramp outside the mall, reports states.
No one was recorded injured by gunfire but an elderly woman was injured in a fall she sustained while trying to flee the area.
The mall was in lockdown for several hours, while police in tactical gear escorted patrons out of the building and conducted a search.
Authorities are working to understand the motive behind the shooting.
