20-year-old woman killed in a two-vehicle collision in North Kingstown
Troopers have confirmed the death of a 20-year-old woman who died after her car overturned following a head-on collision on Tuesday morning in North Kingstown.
Scott Kettelle, North Kingstown Fire Chief confirmed that a report of a collision on Route 2 in the area of Dry Bridge road was received approximately 11:30 a.m.
After authorities arrived the scene, they found out that one vehicle in the middle of the road had rolled over off the shoulder. Chief Kettelle added that both cars were seriously damaged and both female drivers were trapped in their vehicles.
The jaws of life were used to eject both women from their vehicles. According to Chief Kettelle, it took about 25 minutes before the 57-year-old woman who was in the car on the road to be ejected from the car. She was then transported to Rhode Island Hospital trauma center in life threatening condition.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old woman in the overturned vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by medical examiner on arrival.
The crash remains under investigation.
