Shajira Betties, Killed  In A Two-vehicle Collision

A 17-year old teenager, Shajira Betties a resident of  Aiken has loss her life as a result of blunt force injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck on a South Carolina road on Tuesday.

The ugly incident happened at about 1:45 p.m. on U.S. 78, near the intersection with Cedar Branch Road.

According to Tyler Tidwell of South Carolina Highway Patrol, Betties was heading west on U.S. 78 in a 2013 Nissan Altima when the car ran off the right side of the road.

Tidwell, added that Betties overcorrected and the car swerved back onto the road, but the Nissan crossed the center line and was now in the eastbound lane where it crashed into an oncoming 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck.

It is yet unknow why the Nissan originally run off the road, but the crash is still under investigation by Highway Patrol.

Authorities say they are waiting for results of toxicology tests.
