1 killed, 4 others hurt following car crash on Highway in Alberta

One person has been confirmed dead and four others injured a two-vehicle crash that took place on Monday, August, 16 on Highway 22X near Calgary.

According to Royal Canadian Mounted Police, investigation revealed that the crash happened when a three-tone truck travelling west on Highway 22X attempted overtaking two semi trucks before it collided with a pickup truck at Range Road 280 heading eastbound.

The 46-year-old driver of the eastbound truck was declared deceased at the scene of the crash. While two of the passengers in the truck were taken to the hospital; one was airlifted by STARS while the other one was taken by ground ambulance, says RCMP

Similarly, the westbound truck driver was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance while the passenger was flown by STARS to the hospital.

According to RCMP Highway 22X between RR 274 and RR 280 would remain closed for now.
